Carefree at Hideaway 77
Carefree is delighted to be collaborating with Hideaway 77, which recently hosted our care leavers’ supper club. The group met on Thursday evenings for ten weeks to socialise, exchange ideas, cook, and eat together in Hideaway’s newly refurbished kitchen. The young people loved using the wide range of cooking equipment and appreciated the warm, homely environment where they could develop both their cooking skills and their self-confidence. Evening menus included fajitas, tacos, burgers, curry, pasta and stir fry with a range of tempting desserts from cupcakes and pancakes to brownies and berry crumble. As well as cooking, the group explored how maths is used in the kitchen and practised their maths skills by adapting recipes for different numbers of people, calculating proportions, weighing, measuring, budgeting, and even learning a few mathematical magic tricks.
Thank you to everyone at Hideaway 77 for your warm welcome and for the use of your fantastic new kitchen! We hope this is just the first of many exciting collaborations together.

We are open for three evenings a week:
Mondays 5-7pm
will be….
“The Supper Club Back to the Basics”
This a chance for you to learn a new & exciting cooking skill each week. Some weeks we might learn how to make things like bread, different sauces or a delicious cake and other weeks, it might be skills like how to cut safely, how to grow vegetables etc. – whatever we do, it will be a fun way to learn something new. It won’t all be about cooking, they’ll be space to just hang out with your mates, chat with our Youth Workers and play some games. This is open to everyone, there’s no commitment to come every week and you don’t need to sign up.
There may be an opportunity to join us for our original Supper Clubs on Wednesdays, depending on numbers but we’d love to see you on Monday’s for Back to the Basics!
Wednesday’s 5-7pm.
